At Wilsons Yard we supply both new and Antique / Vintage Stone fireplaces.

We have been specialising in the restoration of fireplaces for more than 30 years. 

Our stone fireplaces range from simple little granite or sandstone cottage fireplaces to grand pieces that would not look out of place in a French Chateaux or Stately home.

We source antique and natural stone throughout Europe. Our stocks are always changing, so it is well worth checking our website for updates.

New and bespoke natural stone fireplace

If you would like a new natural stone fireplace our Stone Mason will make it specially for you. It could be a sleek minimalist contemporary style, classical / traditional designs, or a Gothic style statement pieces.

If you like detail carving, ivy leaf’s, gargoyle etc our stonemason is an expert in stove carving.

If you have seen a picture of your perfect fireplace, just send it in with approximate dimensions and we can have it made

Wilsons Yard Slate Fireplaces

Marbleized Slate fireplaces came into their own in the 19th century and continue to be popular now.

Historically old slate fireplaces were an attractive alternative to higher cost marble fireplaces and have generally been made in the same designs as marble fireplaces.

Restoration

At Wilsons Yard we offer both marbleized and raw slate fireplaces for our customers.

Our restorers hand finish each marbleized slate fireplace, creating beautiful patterns and tones resembling marble. We normally have restored slate fireplaces in stock that we can finish to your specific colour schemes / tones.

At Wilsons Yard we recognise that whilst marbleized slate fireplaces are undoubtedly beautiful, styles and taste do change.  So, as an alternative to marbleizing, our restorers often simply strip back the fireplace to bare natural slate, allowing the simple raw beauty of the stone to be appreciated, combined with the classical style of the fireplace to shine though.  This is a very natural look, a dark bold grey slate fireplace with crisp lines makes for a dramatic and sophisticated feature chimney piece.
