At Wilsons Yard, we offer a beautiful collection of original antique fireplaces and period-style fireplaces, carefully selected for their character, craftsmanship and timeless appeal.
Each original fireplace is sympathetically restored, preserving the elegance, detailing and traditional craftsmanship of the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and Arts & Crafts periods. These are qualities that are often sadly lacking in today's mass-produced fireplaces.
Our collection ranges from grand and elaborate marble chimney pieces to simple cast iron fireplaces suitable for parlours, bedrooms and smaller rooms. Whatever the style, our focus remains the same: we only source and sell quality fireplaces with genuine character and craftsmanship.
An antique fireplace does not necessarily mean a more expensive fireplace. In many cases, our original reclaimed fireplaces can be surprisingly competitive when compared with high-quality new reproductions.

During the Georgian and Victorian periods, the arrival of tall ships allowed merchants to bring some of the finest marbles from across Europe and further afield. These exceptional materials were then shaped and carved by highly skilled craftsmen into spectacular fireplaces and chimney pieces.
For wealthy homeowners, an impressive marble fireplace was often a statement of status and sophistication. The combination of rare materials, intricate carving and exceptional craftsmanship produced fireplaces that were truly unique.
Today, original antique marble fireplaces remain highly sought after. Many of the marbles used historically are no longer readily available, making these fireplaces particularly special.
A beautifully restored antique marble fireplace can provide an exceptional focal point, bringing genuine history, elegance and character to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Marbleised slate fireplaces became increasingly popular during the late 19th century as an attractive and more affordable alternative to expensive marble.
When sympathetically restored, marbleised slate can have a wonderfully elegant appearance and works equally well within traditional, period and contemporary interiors.
At Wilsons Yard, our restorers carefully hand-finish these fireplaces to enhance their natural patterns, colours and tones. We can also have unfinished pieces available, allowing them to be finished to complement your chosen interior colour scheme.
The wooden fireplace provided 19th-century craftsmen and carvers with an opportunity to showcase their skills.
Beautifully carved Classical details, including Acanthus leaves, Corinthian columns and intricate mouldings, created fireplaces of remarkable character and craftsmanship. Styles evolved with changing fashions, from highly decorative designs through to simpler fireplaces featuring rounded columns, bolection mouldings and cleaner lines.
Traditionally made using carefully selected, slow-grown timbers, these fireplaces remain an impressive addition to period properties and can also bring warmth and character to more contemporary homes.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, Britain became a world leader in iron production and metalworking. Advances in casting techniques allowed foundries such as Coalbrookdale to produce exceptionally detailed cast iron fireplaces and inserts.
Many of these fireplaces were exported throughout the world and, remarkably, numerous examples have survived to this day.
With sympathetic restoration, an original Victorian or Georgian cast iron fireplace can once again become a beautiful and functional feature within the home.
From highly decorative tiled and cast iron combinations to simple cast iron bedroom and parlour fireplaces, our collection offers a wide variety of original designs and sizes.
Stone has been used for fireplaces for centuries, from simple cottage hearths to magnificent fireplaces created for grand country houses and castles throughout Europe.
