Westmorland roof slate sometimes known as Cumbria’s slate, as the name suggest originated in Cumbria. It is probably the Rolls Royce of roof slate in terms of appearance and quality.
Considered as a fairly exclusive roofing material and would have been used on very prestigious homes and property.
It is most commonly used in the form of random widths (all slates vary slightly in width) and also diminishing courses.
All of the slates have a defined range of heights, the tallest being fitted to the base of the roof and smallest fitted to the peak of the roof.
They are sold by the metric tonne with approx 16sq meters coverage each tonne.

(Q) Is there a lot of wastage in second hand slates?
(A) Our slates are individually sorted and packed by hand by experienced staff to ensure our customers receive a premium product. It is however a recognised rule of thumb within the roofing industry when ordering roofing slate that you would be best advised to purchase 10% over and above the actual roof area to allow for cutting shaping and breakages.
(Q) Can you provide appropriate ridge tiles to complement reclaimed slates?
(A) We carry a large stock of both Blue/Grey Clay and Red Terracotta ridge tiles in a range of pitches and angles.

(A) We have been selling reclaimed slates for over a ¼ of a century our clients are not only private individuals but also include architects such as Des Ewing, Councils and the national trust.
