  • Black Limestone Kitchen Flooring

    Black Limestone Flooring

Just finished a kitchen in Co Meath and popped down to take a few snaps. The lady picked a natural black limestone flagging for her floor and I thought it looked great. Obviously its very dark but it contrasts very nicely with the painted units and natural wood.

  • Traditional Elegant paints

    Finding the right Paint

Lots of people ask if we know of a good quality paint finish with traditional, elegant colours.

What the interior designers tend to highly recommend is paint by Zoffany. The other good point is that it’s a very ECO friendly product.

Zoffany has a wide range of colours which seem to work with both traditional and contemporary colour schemes. They also have a tremendous range of fabrics and wall papers.

The Interior designers (Stylish Living) who are based at the yard provide a service whereby you can pick your colour and have it delivered directly to your home – without having to pay carriage cost.

If you need any help in picking colours or getting paint, then just call Dawn or Evelyn at Stylish Living Design on 028 92 698338 (Ire 048 92 698338) www.stylish-living.co.uk and they will be only to willing help supply or develop your scheme.

  • Three Little Pigs + a Friend

The three little pigs and a friend

On one of our recent buying trips in England I bought a lovely set of 4 little stone pig garden ornaments. They are currently visiting the yard until they find a new permanent homes.

I am sure they will make a great feature in someone’s garden and could even be used inside as they are completely house trained.

  • Thinking of a water feature?

Like most people, I love the sound of water and think it’s very therapeutic and relaxing.

We find that lot of our customers would like to incorporate our water features but are a little uncertain or nerves regarding what would be appropriate for their specific setting.

So if you have visited our website or premises and like what we do but are unsure of how to incorporate then we would be delighted to help.

To do this we would require some general site pictures of the area and for you to have a chat with our staff to understand what the desired look our feel that you wish to achieve. We will then review this is a garden design expert and suggest some options.

There is a little charge for this to frankly avoid time wasters. It’s £40 for the service but this will be taken off products if you decide to buy them from us.

    I hope this helps

    Happy planning

  • Reclaimed Pine Flooring From Liverpool Docks

Hi Folks, Ian from the flooring department at Wilsons Conservation Building Products.    Recently i had the pleasure of meeting a client with a very clear and determined design of a reclaimed floor she wanted to use throughout her newly built apartment in Lisburn.    After a few meetings and several emails later I came across rare pine flooring salvaged from Victorian town houses in the Liverpool docks area hoping that this would meet Kate’s approval, after viewing the board in its raw state Kate gave me the benefit of the doubt and gave me the go ahead with the flooring.    The flooring arrived at Wilsons with a few of the dispatched men looking a bit bewildered but with a bit of humour and a smile they started to prepare for the dispatch of the goods.

Next was the floor fitter KL flooring (Kieran) he met with Kate and they discussed what she was looking for in the finish product and as usual Kieran advised on certain finishes and little extras he could do to enhance the floor.

In between this Kate wanted an original cast iron bath and sink with original tap ware for her bathroom just to add a bit of luxury I think we managed this and more to the point so does Kate.         Back to the floor after the floor was finished on site we were all delighted with the way this project had ended, from a blank canvas and 100 year old pine to something    Of beauty and real character and with Kate let loose with pictures, poster and beautiful pieces of art she really has made this place a beautiful home.    On a personal note working with Kate and sometimes her mum (Mrs Newman who herself is an amazing person) was a pleasure from start to finish and I wish them both lots of success with all their future projects    Kate Newmann    Kate Newmann was born on Co. Down her poetry collection includes “the blind woman in the glue house” “belongings” and most recently “I am horse” and several other works along with her mum.    She has been a junior fellow at the Institute for Irish studies, Queens-university, Belfast.    She is also a co-founder of the summer palace press, and lives in Donegal and Lisburn.    Thank you    Ian
