Brass Valve on Restored Radiator |
Cast
Iron radiators were treasured in Victorian times for the ambient
heat they offered in the period homes of the time. These radiators
were created at the height of the British Industrial Revolution
with exceptionally high quality casting, in the foundries of that
era.
Wilsons have painstakingly restored these traditional
reclaimed radiators to their former glory and once again offer
modern homes the unique experience of heat from an antique
Cast Iron Radiator. Our thorough restoration
process, coupled with modern
radiator valves and fittings ensure that you can add Cast
Iron Radiators to your new or existing central heating system
without having to compromise on warmth and comfort.

1. All of the classic
radiator fittings are removed as these do not work in modern heating
systems.
2. Two new bushings are inserted to accommodate current plumbing standards.
These can be either ½ or ¾ inch to suit the intended hot
water flow rate.
3. The reclaimed
radiators are then pressure tested for leaks. Most heating systems
pump hot water through the system at 2 – 4 bar. Using a pressure
pump we test our radiators at 10 bar to ensure a very high
quality radiator.
4. We then flush out any sediment to ensure maximum heat capacity.
5. The restored
radiators are then sandblasted back to the bare metal.
6. Finally the requested finish is applied.
Our restoration service is also available to customers who wish to have
their own period
Cast Iron radiators restored.
